Anthropic is committing $50 billion to build AI data centers in Texas and New York, marking a significant escalation in the infrastructure race for artificial intelligence. The facilities, developed in partnership with GPU cloud provider Fluidstack, will operate at gigawatt-scale to train and run the company's proprietary AI models.

The project will create 800 permanent jobs and over 2,000 construction roles, with both sites scheduled to go live by 2026. CEO Dario Amodei positioned the investment as critical for developing AI systems capable of scientific breakthroughs, while simultaneously boosting domestic job growth.

This infrastructure push comes as Washington intensifies pressure for US-based AI development. Anthropic's enterprise-focused approach mirrors the scaling strategies of crypto mining operations, where access to cheap power and geographic distribution determine competitive advantage.
